Where to eat in São Paulo

São Paulo is one of the best food cities in the world, shaped by Brazilian, European, Middle Eastern and Asian influences. These restaurants are ideal picks during your Formula 1 weekend.

Beyond the racetrack, São Paulo offers cultural highlights and iconic city spots that fit perfectly into a Formula 1 Brazil race weekend.

Where to stay for the Formula 1 in São Paulo

Expand/Collapse

For the Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix, staying near a metro or train station is the most convenient option for reaching Interlagos on race weekend. São Paulo offers many accommodation choices, but good public transport access makes a real difference when travelling to and from the circuit.

Hotels near Avenida Paulista

Avenida Paulista is one of the best areas to stay during the Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix. The neighbourhood sits in the heart of the city and is served by multiple metro lines, making it easy to reach different parts of São Paulo. Hotels around Avenida Paulista place you close to major attractions, restaurants and nightlife. It’s an ideal base if you want to combine race action with sightseeing and city life while still having reliable transport connections.

Hotels in Vila Olímpia

Vila Olímpia is a modern and safe neighbourhood with excellent dining options. Staying near Vila Olímpia station is especially practical on race weekend. The station is located on CPTM Line 9 (Esmeralda), the same line that serves Interlagos. This allows for a straightforward journey to the circuit without multiple transfers.

Hotels in Pinheiros

Pinheiros is one of São Paulo’s most vibrant districts, known for its bars, cafés and restaurants. It’s a great choice if you enjoy an active nightlife after a day at the track. Pinheiros station connects to CPTM Line 9 (Esmeralda) and Metro Line 4 (Yellow). This makes it easy to reach Interlagos as well as Avenida Paulista and other key areas of the city.

Neighbourhoods like Morumbi, Campo Belo and Jardins are also good places to stay during the Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix. These areas offer a wide range of hotels and benefit from solid metro and train connections, making it easier to reach Interlagos and move around the city on race weekend.

No matter where you stay, choose a hotel within walking distance of a metro or train station. This saves time, avoids traffic and makes travelling on race Sunday far more predictable.

How to get to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace (Interlagos)

Expand/Collapse

The Autódromo José Carlos Pace is located in the south of São Paulo and is easy to reach from central São Paulo. On race weekend, fans can reach the circuit by public transport, taxi services or by car.

Closest airports to Interlagos

There are two main airports to consider when flying to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo. Travel times depend heavily on traffic, especially on race Sunday.

  • Congonhas Airport (CGH)
The closest airport to Interlagos, but domestic flights only. Typical car travel time is around 30–45 minutes in light traffic. Congonhas is ideal for domestic connections within Brazil or transfers from Guarulhos Airport.

  • São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU)
São Paulo’s main international airport and the most common arrival point for international fans. Car travel time to Interlagos is around 60 minutes in light traffic, but can increase significantly on race Sunday. A train connection links the airport with São Paulo’s rail network, making it possible to reach Interlagos by public transport, although travel times can still be long.

Travel times are estimates and can increase significantly on race days due to heavy traffic around Interlagos.

Flying after the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix

Leaving São Paulo on Sunday evening can be challenging after the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix. Traffic around Interlagos builds up quickly once the race finishes, making airport transfers unpredictable.

To avoid stress and tight connections, flying out on Monday is strongly recommended. Traffic conditions are calmer and travel times are more reliable. If you plan to fly on Sunday, choosing a late-night departure gives you the best buffer against delays.

Getting to Interlagos by public transport

Public transport is one of the most reliable ways to reach Interlagos on race weekend. Most fans travel via São Paulo’s CPTM train network, often connecting from the city’s metro system.

The circuit is served by CPTM Line 9 (Esmeralda). Fans should get off at Autódromo station, from where it is a short walk to the closest circuit entrances.

Using public transport helps avoid heavy traffic around the venue and is especially recommended on race Sunday.

By taxi or ride-hailing

Taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available across São Paulo and offer a comfortable way to reach the circuit. This option works well if you are travelling in a group or outside peak arrival times. Apps like “99” and “Uber” are commonly used, with 99 often offering competitive pricing and a service similar to Uber. Drop-off points and the most convenient entrances can vary depending on your grandstand or ticket area, so local signage and event guidance should always be followed.

By car

Arriving by car is generally not recommended for the Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix. Parking around Interlagos is extremely limited, and there is no official public parking available at the circuit for standard ticket holders.

Traffic congestion is heavy on race weekend, especially on Sunday. Some local residents offer unofficial parking near the circuit, but availability is limited and prices can be high, and security standards may vary. If you choose to drive, arriving very early is essential and delays should be expected.

Public transport or taxi and ride-hailing services are the more reliable options for reaching Interlagos on race weekend.
